The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (the LDS Church) purports to be the restored gospel and church of Jesus Christ on the earth today, directed by Christ through his prophets on earth, the purpose of which is to bring the world population, or as much as is willing, to Christ and his way of living as expressed in the Bible, the Book of Mormon, the Pearl of Great, and the Doctrine and Covenants, among other scripture already revealed or yet to be revealed. The point is to bring people to salvation thru Christ so they can avoid suffering the full load of justice demanded by those who have been harmed by people’s aggression, allowing the mercy of Christ to pay off that justice through his Atonement and thru their sincere repentance, which demands a change in the heart and actions of the repenting individual, restitution where possible, and enduring on the path of Christ to the end. The purpose is to bring humanity back into the presence of God and to the fullest extent of happiness that they prefer according to the level of Christlike living they are desirous and willing to live by. The LDS church purports to be the current authorized spokesman, as it were, of God to his modern day children, whether Israelite or Gentile, regardless of sex/gender, ethnicity, skin color, stature, economic situation, etc. God is no respecter of persons, and He speaks to all via a variety of methods, whether it be personal revelation or general revelation to all of his children as a whole via prophets, seers, and revelators. The LDS Church therefore claims to have the authority from God to be those official prophets, seers, and revelatory for the humanity as a whole, as it relates to general revelation that concerns the salvation of all of humanity. Taking them at their word by exercising faith on their claims, the LDS Church also purports that their “Proclamation on the Family,” conceived and published in the 1995 by the LDS First Presidency and Quorum of the 12 Apostles, the governing body of the LDS Church, is modern day revelation and doctrine from God that affects their policies on Homosexual, Bisexual, and Transgender members and non-members alike. It has been used by many in LDS society, including by LDS Church authorities via its policies, to claim or infer either that Trans people cannot and/or should not exist at all, logically & scientifically, let alone in God’s Kingdom or be condoned by God and that to be Trans or to transition to any degree, medically and/or socially is sinful, the result of which may affect their status and standing as members in the LDS Church.
